Food Photography

Jonathan has a passion for food – cooking, baking, eating and especially photographing it. He takes an organic approach to food photography and as with his other specialties, his style is clean and natural. His work focuses on delicious details and tasty textures, resulting in mouth watering commercial and editorial food photography. Jonathan has years of experience working with natural light, artificial light, and a combination of both to produce the exact look needed for any photography assignment.

Editorial Food Photography

Jonathan has worked with many publications in the St. Louis area and around the country, including Feast Magazine, Sauce Magazine, St. Louis Magazine, Alive, National Geographic Traveller, and Time Out New York. Jonathan’s portfolio includes beauty shots of hero dishes (both on location and in the studio) as well as reportage-style coverage of restaurants, chefs, and food culture. His editorial style is relaxed and natural and he’s not afraid to get a little messy. From behind the camera Jonathan is able to capture the essence of each dish, restaurant or food personality, bringing out the best qualities of his subjects.

Commercial Food and Beverage Photography

Jonathan, along with a team of food and prop stylists, can create beautiful commercial food photography for advertising, websites, catalogs, products, and packaging. For commercial work, Jonathan employs a more controlled style of lighting and composition, but retains the natural look and feel of his editorial work. His experience in both editorial and commercial fields gives him a wealth of knowledge to get the exactly look that your project calls for.
